Generally: Colorado, located in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States of America, was the 38th state admitted into the United States of America.  Colorado became a state on August 1, 1876. 

 

Capital: Denver, Colorado

 

Abbreviation: CO

 

Flag: The official Colorado flag was designed by Andrew Carlisle Johnson and was formally adopted on June 5, 1911.  Each of the colors utilized in the flag represents physical characteristics of Colorado.  The blue represents the clear blue skies, the gold symbolizes the copious days of sunshine, the red represents the rustic tint of much of Colorado's soil, and the white stands for the snow capped peaks.
